Florence March 2016

So, I just came home from Italy two days ago. We had an amazing time, and I am so thankful to my great aunt who took me and my mother on this trip. Even though we had a lot of complications with our flights both coming to Italy and leaving, and getting lost in the masses of tourists, we managed to see a lot of amazing architecture and some beautiful views.

We spent 5 days in Florence and 1 day each in Venice and Pisa, and from that experience I would recommend spending maximum 3 days in Florence and a couple more in Venice, and 1 day in Pisa, if you are considering taking the same trip. The cities are very well connected by train, which makes the three a good combination for a week long vacation. Florence is a very busy town with mainly tourists.

There aren't really many restaurants made for the lokals, and Im guessing that is because of their current economic situation. So its actually very hard to find good restaurants that serve authentic italian food, because most are just tourist traps with high prices and low quality food. But after spending a good amount of time checking tripadvisor.com and other similar pages, we managed to find a few really good spots. One of them being Da Kou, a japanese restaurant which served some of the best japanese food I've ever had. Even the salmon nigiri was better than what I've had in norway, which is where the salmon often is imported from. So after having eaten pizza and pasta for every meal the first 4 days, we wanted to eat something else, and ended up eating there 2 days in a row. The first day we all had different kinds of ramen, and the second day, sushi.

But of course there are some really amazing places to have italian food as well, we just were a bit unlucky and went to quite a few disappointing places. So be smart and do your research before going out to eat. It will save you money if your lucky, and also disappointment, which really sucks when you're really hungry and tired from walking all day.

Here are some pictures and a little video I took on my trip to Florence, and also some from our daytrips to Venice and Pisa.
